Locked Out

Today the worst thing (well, maybe not "the" worst but something close) happened to me. I got locked out of my house!!! Yes, I was outside and my babies were inside. I had gone out into the garage for a minute and the door swung shut behind me. Usually it's not locked but today it was. I was not happy and said some not so nice words. I went and knocked on the neighbors door and thank goodness someone was home and I actually remembered Ben's work number. I told him he had to come home right now and that he better speed (with no traffic it takes him about 30 min to get to work). The babies had been sleeping when I went out and I prayed that they would stay that way but Emily woke up and started screaming and continued to scream until Ben got home. The cat kept jumping up in the window looking at me like "why are you out there, get in here and take care of this". This was an absolutely horrible experience, I don't think I have ever felt so helpless in all of my life. The only good thing that happened was that I got some weeding done while I was locked out (I also got attacked by ants). Oh and did I mention that I was out there in a t-shirt, sweats, and no shoes? Thank goodness this day is over with no major catastrophes!!!

Dashed Dreams

Anthony

Emily

Well...after 2 nights of sleeping from 9:30pm to 4:00 am Anthony and Emily decided that it would be fun to totally mess with mom and wake up every 2 hours for the next couple of nights. I had so hoped that we would start sleeping longer but apparently they didn't like that so much. The babies are doing very well, growing very big and getting lots more personality. We are planning a trip to Rexburg this weekend so I guess that will mess with their schedule anyways. There is a doctor here that several people that I've talked to told me I have to go see so I got on her list to be considered as a new patient and just found out we have been accepted so that is a big relief for me. Unfortunately we can't get in for about a month and a half, poor babies still haven't had their two month shots. Anyways, I know this post is pretty random but that's what you get when you write with little sleep I guess.

Sleep, blessed sleep

I just had to share this quick bit of great news....we actually got lots of sleep last night! I can't say that we slept through the night, but pretty darn close. We put them down about 9:30 pm then they woke up at 2:30 and immediately went back to sleep. I kept expecting them to wake up again at 5:30 but no, they slept until 7:30!!!! Hopefully, this is the beginning of many nights like this!

Awareness

I can't believe I've written 3 times in 2 days, yea me! The coolest thing happened this morning and I have to get it down or I'll forget when it happened and then I'll kick myself. I was holding Emily on my lap sitting on the couch next to Ben who was holding Anthony. The babies actually made eye contact and were smiling at each other! This has never happened before, we've tried to get them to look at each other but they never will and this morning they did it on their own. It was so cute! I'm sure we'll have more moments like this but the first is always so special, it just shows how big they are getting I guess. I just wanted to share this special moment so thanks for reading.

Cute Kids

I didn't have time to add these pics earlier so I'm doing it right now, aren't they cute??!!

TGIF!!!

The kids are asleep right now so I figured I'd hurry and write something. TGIF!!!! Ben was gone most of this week to Portland for a seminar and I am suprised I made it through with my sanity intact! The babies have been pretty fussy lately and wanted nothing more than to be held so I had kind of a rough time. They are getting bigger and it's getting harder to hold both of them, especially when they want to be walked around. I have been having a hard time sleeping which is crazy since I don't get much of it anyways but I'm afraid that Anthony especially may have inherited my insomnia, he doesn't like to nap much but gets pretty ornery when he doesn't. I keep telling him, "Don't you know you're a baby, all you are supposed to do is sleep?" He doesn't seem to care. I feel really bad because a lot of the time I just throw them in their swings, I don't feel like I have enough one on one time with them, but I also stress out because the house is a mess, and we are nowhere near being settled in to the house. I have been at least trying to keep the kitchen clean (which is what I should be doing right now) so that has helped me feel a little better. I do try and at least once a day feed just one and spend a little bit of time with them that way. Emily has discovered her tongue and loves to mimic you when you stick it out at her. Anthony just likes to sit and smile at you. Emily is definitely more vocal, she coos and sighs and makes lots of noises (heaven help us in a couple of years) and Anthony is much more facially expressive, doesn't "talk" much but loves to smile at you. I was looking at some pics of me being pregnant and even though it was only about 3 months ago, I can hardly remember it. I suppose that is a good thing though, it was pretty rough at the end. Well, enough of my babbling for now, I hear one of them starting to stir so I'd better go get bottles washed.

New Beginnings

Hey everybody, in an attempt to be cool (which Ben says will never happen) I have decided to start my own blog. Some of my friends are doing it so I thought, why not? (Yea, I'd probably jump off a bridge too, lol) I also thought it would be a good way to let you know how the kids are doing. I am going to try to write at least once a week so we'll see how it goes! Things are going well for us so far in Boise. We love the house we are renting, we are in a nice area, and the kids are finally getting settled in. They have already been quite the "world" travelers and I think they are glad to be settled and not in the car all the time. They are getting so big, Emily more than Anthony. It is harder for me to see it since I am with them all the time but when I go back and look at pics I can hardly believe it. It is also hard to believe they are already 10 weeks old. I can still hardly believe they are mine, sometimes it still feels like we are playing house and their real mom is going to come and take them back. I do love them a lot though, sometimes it just makes me cry when I look at them, they are definitely worth the wait! Well, I guess we'll leave it at this for now and hopefully I'll make it back soon with more to post!
